Choosing Your Perfect Worktop

When looking for your perfect worktop to reflect your individual needs what do you choose? Granite, Silestone or something else?
Silestone is hard wearing, none porous, versatile and reliable. What more could you want? It also comes in large slabs along with a large range of colours. On the negative side the pattern can be repetitive with no depth to colours, it is also mass produced and more importantly can damage under heat (so no hot pans then!).
Granite has a natural bea uty, unique as no two pieces are the same and hard wearing which is very useful in a busy kitchen. On the flip side it can be unpredictable and porus (but will be sealed by fabricator). The slabs are also sometimes limited. Lighter colours tend to be softer and weaker than dark.
Conclusion, in short Silestone was introduced as an alternative to natural worktops. It may be a safer choice and definitely has its place in the design world but will it or can it ever replace the natural beauty of granite, maybe one day it will have to?
